Amod Kumar Kanth, Inspector General of Police, Indian Police
Service and founder of NGO “Prayas”, which is completely dedicated to the concern of children has been selected by the Chief Minister of Delhi Shiela Dixit as the Chairperson of the newly launched Delhi Commission for Protection of the Child Rights(DCPCR)and save the Supreme assets of the society.

He is also the founder General Secretary of “Prayas juvenile center”, New Delhi which is completely dedicated for the Protection of Children, Youth and Women Rights.

The commission is meant to protect and fulfill the various rights of Children enumerated under UNCRC for their Survival,Protection,
Development of children and Protection from the Networks of the Global Sex Trade and Trafficking of the Children and Women.

In nearly 30 years of Police service A.K. Kanth has served in
the States of Delhi,Pondicherry and Mizoram, as ASP, Supdt. of Police/Dy. Commissioner of Police, Jt.Commissioner of Police of Delhi besides the apex investigating body‘ Central Bureau of Investigation’, with distinction.

He has Excelled as a Police officer in various fields of law and order, narcotic control,counter-terrorist operations while giving
a human face to Police and Investigations like Transistor Bomb Blast cases, Lalit Maken, Arjun Dass, Rajiv Gandhi Assassination,
Harshad Mehta’s scam cases besides the sensational Hawala and Ramesh Sharma cases.

He has received several prestigious Awards and Honors including President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service,out of turn,for controlling communal situations in the walled city of Delhi and establishing harmony, Gallantry Award while saving thousands of Sikhs in November 1984 communal riots taking extreme risk to life,President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services on the occasion of Republic Day 1999, Award for outstanding Social Worker on Child Welfare by the Government of Delhi in 1993, Rotary Awards for outstanding social work in 1995,1998 and 2001, Sulabh-Habitat Award on the World Habitat Day and etc.The list is endless.

Outstanding contributions in the field of Children,Women and Youth Rights Protection and Prevention & Control of Sexual Exploitaion and Trafficking of Children and Women in India proves that Shri Amod Kumar Kanth is one of the Brave sons of Mother India.Indeed he is Pride of Bihar and India.
