Capital city Delhi is not safe for girls and women. Recent gang rape incident of a 12 year girl On April 23,by the Delhi traffic constable Sanjeev Rana and his friend property dealer Naresh Mann in a moving car (Maruti Zen) after kidnapping her from outside a temple at Nangli Poona (Shahbad Dairy area) in outer Delhi. This innocent victim was waiting for her parents. After two hours gang rape the victim was dropped near that temple. Both the accused are under Police custody. They crushed this innocent girl’s dream for life and career.Shame !!!!!!!!!!!!

Rapist Sanjeev Rana has been suspended from the service. The victim’s parents were offered to accept Rs. 3 lakhs for not
filing rape cases against them. This horrific story proves that girls and women are the most vulnerable member of the society. They are not safe anywhere either in the home/on the road/in the educational institutes or working places. Sex monsters are now active in the society. Security for the girls and women in the society is the greatest unsolved question of our country.

Wounded Mother India is crying and weeping for help due to the
rapid rise in the graphs of Violence, Rapes and Sexual Abuse,
Exploitation and trafficking of Children and Women. But who
cares abouther ? Now, Delhi is known as the Rape Capital of
India.

On the occasion of the CEDPA’s South Asian Conference on Girls’ Rights and Societies Responsibilities, Mumbai,December 1997 Central Youth and Sports Minister and Film Star Late Sunil Dutt said :“ Rape of a girl or woman is the most heinous crime of
the society. We are all children of Mother India. All people are
our brothers and sisters. Victims of sexual crimes are also our Brothers and Sisters. Is it fair to sexually abuse them ?It’s a crime against humanity and Mother India. We must unite and work together for the Girls’and Women Rights Protection.”

The future of girls and women are not safe in Delhi and other
cities like Mumbai,Noida,Kolkata,Bengluru,Patna,Gurgaon,Jammu, Chandigarh,Kerala,Ranchi etc.Present Indian Laws are inadequate
to protect the rights of girls’and women.

There are many loopholes in these laws which are responsible for the rise in sexual crimes against girls and women in the country. These laws must be amended immediately for the social justice &
protection of these victim’s rights and stringent legal action against the accused.
