Apologies if I offend anybody here, but I find it hard to digest the fact that a person’s birthday is remembered only based on one big achievement. Abhinav has been consistently performing over the years, but it took a gold medal in the Olympics for people to realize he exists. And I have never come across a birthday message for Vishy...does he need a medal to deserve our wishes?

He deserves it, yes. And he is the pride of the youth world, agreed. However, I believe there are other less fortunate sportsman who haven’t had millionaire fathers supporting their practice and who could’ve performed better if training conditions were better.

Great stories of courage talk about resilience in the face of hardships. Abhinav, undoubtedly, deserves a lot of credit for battling his injuries. However, we give lesser importance to people like Sushil Kumar who could’ve done better if circumstances were better.
